by Joaquín Meroño

The CrossFit Games move to Birmingham , AL, next season, staying in the state's largest city from 2024-27 . The Games will be held at the Birmingham CrossPlex, a multi-sports complex located in the center of the city.

Ahead of the 2022 CrossFit Games, the company's general director of sports, Justin Bergh, announced that 2023 would be its final year in Madison , WI, the city it has hosted since 2017.

The Games began at Dave Castro 's family ranch in Aromas, California, in 2007, famously called "the Woodstock of fitness" by CrossFit founder and former CEO Greg Glassman.

As the Games evolved and grew, they also moved from Rancho de Aromas to the Home Depot Center (later StubHub Center) in Carson, CA, where they would remain until 2017.

The 2017 CrossFit relocated to Madison, WI, where it has remained (minus a trip back to Aromas during the COVID-disrupted 2020 season) until this past season for the 2022 NOBULL CrossFit Games.

For the third time in its history, the CrossFit Games are moving.

Notably, according to weather.com, the average temperature in Birmingham at the end of July and beginning of August is 32 degrees, while the average humidity is 75%.
